This STEAM Challenge is totally optional (unless listed under your technology class assignment for the week).

These are intended to be FUN, EXTRA activities you can do either by yourself or with your family.

The Challenge:
Create a boat, raft, or floating toy using items you have around your house (BE SURE TO ASK MOM & DAD FIRST!).  THEN test it's floating capabilities in your sink or bathtub.  See how much weight it can hold before sinking--for example, how many 6-peg-LEGO bricks it can hold before sinking, or how many pennies, crayons, spoons, etc.

Be sure to...
1. Take a picture or video of your finished Challenge and send it to Mrs. Hendrix
2. Write or talk about:

• what worked,
• what didn't work,
• how you made changes when you ran into problems,
• what you would do differently next time.

3. Can you use PebbleGo, PebbleGoNext, or World Almanac for Kids to research more about what and how things float?  If so, please share!

Create an indoor (or outdoor!) fort/hideout using blankets, pieces of furniture, other items you have around your house (BE SURE TO ASK MOM & DAD FIRST!).

2. Write or talk about:

• what didn't work,
• how you made changes when you ran into problems,
• what you would do differently next time.

3. Can you use PebbleGo or World Almanac for Kids to research famous buildings?  Did you find any that look like parts of your Fort/Hideout?  If so, please share!
